First Lesson of a Foreign Country (2003) illustrates the early experience of seven immigrants, six Indian scientists and myself, as we learn German in Leipzig. The work echoes the efforts of settling in, and the ever uncertain relationship between India and Pakistan, the two countries with much to share, and to claim, historically and geographically.
